Adding pictures to your ad
Adding pictures to your ad is easy. All the photos that you see on the AGF are hosted somewhere else - you don't actually upload photos to the AGF. There are a number of websites that do a better job of allowing you to manage your photos, albums, etc., and they are designed to work with forums like ours. The most popular are:
http://picasaweb.google.com http://imgur.com/ http://photobucket.com/ http://www.flickr.com/ http://imageshack.us/ Once you upload your photos, they give you a link to your pictures which you can use on the forum or on your website, etc. The link looks something like this: PHP Code:

Thanks JR. A lot of people contact me to post pics for them. I hope this helps a few of them do it themselves. My photobucket account is getting filled up with other peoples photos.
BTW, nice looking git! |

Great picture, J.R.!!!
Off subject, that is one great looking guitar. Was that the natural grain that you placed the inlay in?

I put pictures in my ad, but they are small. Is there a trick to getting them to be larger?
Thanks!!

if you're using photobucket, it's actually pretty simple. first you have to make sure your album is public. i've seen a lot of posts about albums asking for passwords. that's what that means. next, when you're viewing your album, if you hover of your picture, a little "Share|Copy" window pops up. at the bottom of that window is "IMG code", click that and it will copy the link in the format specified by the original post.

I don't find it simple at all
I have spent an evening trying to figure out how to take a picture of a guitar and put it in my post using a photo service. I managed to get a photo in photobucket. But everytime I try to send it I get the whole photobucket web page, not just the photo.

Klef, when you access your Photobucket page, take your cursor and put it on the photo you want to include. Don't click on the picture, just put your cursor on it. That should open a drop menu that will have the selections:
Email & IM Direct link HTML Code IMG Code Slide your cursor down to the "IMG Code" and left click on it. A momentary banner will come up saying "copied". You then open up your post and "paste" it there by right clicking and hit "paste". It should work like this... |

Yes, I've tried that and it copies as a code, but not as a link?

J.R.,
What exactly is that beauty in your original post. I'm sure it's a Taylor, but which one? |

Flickr is not so simple......
1) If you copy their link -- for me it was something like http://www.flickr.com/photos/42245057@N03/7322197840/ you get the result below..... fail....... 2) If you grab the HTML -- for me it is "<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/42245057@N03/7322197840/" title="Untitled by propower, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8164/7322197840_3cd8d1982a_b.jpg" width="1024" height="765" alt="Untitled"></a>" and then wrap it in [img] tags you get [IMG]<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/42245057@N03/7322197840/" title="Untitled by propower, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8164/7322197840_3cd8d1982a_b.jpg" width="1024" height="765" alt="Untitled"></a>[/IMG] Still no picture...... 3) So now you have to edit the HTML Flikr gives you....... Isolate the part in quotes right after the src= and ending in .jpg ... http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8164/7...d8d1982a_b.jpg This is the actual pictures address and when wrapped in the [img] [/img] tags you finally get: Why APPLE chose FLIKR as its only partner with iPhoto is WAY beyond me but there ya have it........... |
