[QUOTE=Itzkinguitars;6896494]Really curious about this! One of favorite Torres guitars is of the same wood combination although of his second epoch. Have been thinking of making a guitar on the 1856 La Leona plantilla of spruce and cuban mahogany as well!

Brian, thanks for the link, nice to see an original, it's rare to see classicals in cuban, but I just loved this particular set so much. I nearly asked Nick for a second epoch shape, but I played a FE side by side with a SE which he happened to have in the workshop at the same time, and I preferred the smaller bodied one, such a sweet, lyrical sound. The top on this new build had a magical tap tone, so I'm hopeful of much joy once the finish is on...

Hey Colin, John had brought some of his guitars to Europe some years ago, including one that was sold and then resold by the fellowship of acoustics in Holland. There are youtube videos of it available. My buddy Terence of guitarbench fame picked this guitar up, and raved about it. I was curious about the falcate bracing, and played a guitar by G R Bear which sounded just enormous, so I thought I'd take a punt on one of John's guitars. He's hoping to come to England at some point in the next few months. If you want to check his stuff out, he's been building a few guitars recently, and is in Wauchope, just a hop and a step down the road from QLD

Thanks Dennis, Wauchope is in a very nice part of New South Wales, but at 1,200 km north of me it’s too far for a quick visit.

We used to have biannual guitar festivals here in Melbourne, with the last in 2015. It would be great to have another so all the Australian luthiers quietly making guitars can get a bit of show time. Maybe I’ll become a festival organiser when I retire from being an engineer!

That looks great! Looks like the rosette is heavily inspired by Torres FE-09 of 1859 (Ex Miguel Llobet)

Default What custom guitar commissions are you expecting delivery on in 2022?

I’ve got a Greenfield G4 and a Beneteau coming this year. Both were originally slated to be received in 2021.

The Greenfield was destroyed in shipping so Micheal is building me another.

Re: the Beneteau, it just ended up making more sense to take delivery late this year so I pushed the build out. Still tinkering with specs and options for this one. Might go with a baritone? Or a OOO? African Blackwood? Maple? We’ll see!!

Both of these men have been supremely accommodating and responsive, incredible people to work with!

This is my last update to this thread. I have listed 80 guitars in my initial post. Feel free to continue to post, but I am finished curating…

So sad to just now see the update of the Greenfield being damaged. It will be worth the wait for certain!

Marc is shipping my OM next week and I couldn't be more excited. Am interested in starting a baritone with him at some point as he's just made so many and I'm finally accepting that I cant go without a baritone much longer. Can definitely recommend ABW for a Beneteau. He does great things with it.
