Default Denvir #18

#18 went off to its new home last month. Ziricote, lutz spruce and ebony binding and head plate. My first cutaway, and also the first time I'd tried a wenge bridge and fretboard.

When I first stung it up, I was concerned that the wenge made for too brash a sound, but it mellowed quickly, and now the only way I can think to describe it is "lively."

I'll definitely be using wenge again.

And I finally found a headstock shape and logo that I'm happy with. Finally :-)

Thanks for looking

Steve

Looks beautiful--really like the woods, the shape, and your execution of the florentine cutaway.

Nice work! BTW--Is the soundhole slightly enlarged? Looks great either way, just curious...

Wow, what an eye. It's just a hair larger than traditional.

Because I'm building (for the moment) with a true flat top, the bass is very present.

The goal of opening up the sound hole just a bit is to get a little more high end.

I'm a relatively new builder, but I'm slowly discovering that it's all about balance :-)

Thanks David, as always, and thanks John. Quite a ways from #2, the all-mahogany OM you were good enough to look at during the 2011 ASIA symposium :-)
