Default S. Kinnaird 2016 #2 (Lefty BC Sitka/Amazon RW OM)

Our first part of our shop thread is now long enough that for AGF's sake, we will start a part two. I will still use this first post as an index through the year (almost done now). Thanks for following us this year. We have more exciting projects to be finished!

If you want to read the whole first part of the thread go here.

*****
Here's a partial list of some the known upcoming projects:

Sitka/Bubinga CS (final pics on page 4 or buy it here)
Redwood/East Indian FS (Final Pics or Buy it here)
Engelmann/English Brown Oak Parlor (TAMCO thread & Final Pics or Buy it here)
Italian/Panamanian Rosewood OM (build pics starts here and Final Pics)
Italian/Black & White Ebony Parlor (build pics start here and soundclips)
Sitka/Oregon Myrtle OM (build pics start here and Final Pics)
Bearclaw Sitka/Quilted Maple OM (build pics start on this page)
Lefthanded Bearclaw Sitka/Amazon Rosewood OM (build starts here)
Lutz/SE Asian OM (Build thread here!)
Sitka/Spanish Cedar 00
Adirondack/Guatemalan Rosewood SJ
Sitka/Madagascar Rosewood OM
Indonesian Rosewood 00

and a couple more when the wood guys (you know who you are) get their minds made up.

The idea is to chronicle a little the constant work product of our small shop and share it with you. I will try to keep this first post updated as kind of an index for this year's work. I hope you enjoy the process.

Working on it Chris. Dang, you gave me three minutes. I had to do the picture recap. It took a second or two. I've got plenty of pics for you...well maybe not for you.

We're building a Bearclaw Sitka/Quilted Maple OM for a great customer of ours (not on the AGF) who is actually giving this one away as a gift to his brother-in-law. Don't you wish you had this guy in your family? Anyway, I've got a couple of shots of the build process that's coming along.

Here's the inside sans top:

Now putting the highly figured Bearclaw top on:

A look at the sides as they are being leveled (under finish it goes crazy!):

The Maple neck with some Cuban Mahogany stringers:

Thanks everyone for watching and their patience.

Definitely some choice morsels in that group Ryan. Beautiful work. Very much looking forward to the coming year's guitars.

And AGF thanks you for keeping your threads below the 300 post count!

A couple questions about the sitka/myrtle OM; I don't recall you posting any specs. Is it deep-body or standard, & what is the nut width & saddle spacing? Just can't get this one out of my mind!

Crap. I'm sorry I asked. Unfortunately, it's perfect! Crap! Ever notice how the perfect guitar comes along at the wrong time?

I see that maple guitar there. It seems maple is coming on strong lately, becoming accepted.

One small note of correction, to further your discomfort, Steve:
The rosette is actually some dark, curly Claro walnut from Northern California.
None of that east coast stuff on your future guitar, no sir.
Ryan and I were grabbing some lunch at an In and Out burger when some wood cutters pulled in. They had just taken down a tree and insisted we check out the chunks in the back of their pickup. I would have bought it all if I could, but lunch costing what it did we settled on one piece that yielded several backs/sides and some extra slices. Like this rosette. Now...what would you pay?

One can hope so! We've always accepted it, with open check books.
It is a wonderful material, suffering a needless bad rap.
It can--and does--make a remarkable instrument.
Thanks for dropping by, Bill!

I got the Marketplace thread up on the new Oregon Myrtle OM. Go check it out here: Sitka/Oregon Myrtle OM for sale.

I'll also post a link to it in the November Guitars for Sale thread at the top of the Custom Shop.

My goal today will also be to post some more shots of the Quilted Maple OM that we have rolling. Got to get more work done by the end of this year!

For a couple of months, I've had my GAS under control. And then I saw this:

I don't really want a parlor guitar but that pic made me realize how nice it would be to have a tool to not only make tonally pleasing music, but a beautiful, aesthetically pleasing work of art as well.
