Hi Oracle,

If I understood your question correctly, the answer is that Tim used a mold earlier in the process to form the cutaway:

Hope that helps, Tim can certainly weigh in on that as well...

Hi Mike,
The outer mold is universal in that it can hold a standard non-cutaway SDG, a Venetian or Florentine cutaway. I bend the small Florentine section in another bending form. In the photo, the Florentine point has already been glued to the neck block and now I am just fitting the small spruce inner triangular shaped brace that joins the two points together.

Any UK McKnight owners?
Hi Richard,
We do have a couple of McGits in the UK now. One in England and one in Scotland. The Acoustic Guitar Co does have one ordered in 2012 so you could be in luck next year

Hi James,
I happen to have a MS demo here now... Just ask Kurt about the Gear-head guitar

Excellent! I know The Acoustic Music Company well. I write for Acoustic magazine here in the UK, so maybe I'll get to do a review of the one Trevor has ordered.

I like the look of the new design.

Default A Tribute to Ergonomics

One of my primary considerations on this guitar was physical - I have had a couple of significant hand injuries and had become accustomed to playing smaller guitars and shorter (24.75") scale as well. As my playing and technique improved over a period of several years, I found that a significant part of my issues with "normal" scale guitars had more to do with my technique than my injuries. I have been enjoying playing 25.5" scale guitars again for about a year but also enjoy playing short scale instruments. Enter the Multi-Scale design - I do not play alternate tunings so that was not a consideration for me. I strongly considered a slight fan ala Bruce Sexauer, but in the end I went with a .75 spread, 24.9 - 25.65. I lead worship and wanted a strong articulate bass that can handle semi-aggressive strumming but also those sweet trebles. Here is a pick of the fretboard in progress (Brazilian):

Also, in my initial discussion with Tim I said "no" to the Manzer Wedge, but after further discussion (and particularly with me being accustomed to smaller-depth guitars) I decided that was definitely not the place to try to save a few dollars on the build:

What goes without saying (though that obviously isn't stopping me from commenting) is that Tim was very helpful, patient and generous with his time in assisting me in the decision making process about the particulars of the build.

More to come...

Nathan

Rochdale? Shame - that's a fair way from me (by UK standards). Still I'll look out for that one Trevor's ordered for TAMCO.

Keen eye there Phil. Occasionally we drill an extra pivot hole in the sound hole cut out ... just to make it lighter I am sure John has a similar reason as well? Besides ... it makes a cool stereo whistling sound as you hurl it across the shop, like a Frisbee.
