NGD Steelbelly 12 string tricone resonator
Long time lurker here, haven't posted much though. So had a New Guitar Day, my Steelbelly guitars 12 string tricone resonator arrived:
Action is low enough for fingerstyle but high enough for slide. Just about perfect. Forgive my crappy playing, but the sound is glorious! Last edited by bholder; 03-12-2022 at 06:39 AM. Reason: oops fix typo |

So compared to my single cone 12s (same builder), the tone is much fuller, more even across the range, with good mids and bass, not quite as piercing or loud. Single cone probably best for Delta style, maybe Piedmont for the tricone (not that I can play either style adequately yet).

Great looking guitar!
I had a look for Steelbelly, seems like it's strictly custom builds?

New guitar, old song. Sorry for the sloppy fingerpicking needs more practice:

Love that tricone. Very interesting instruments. Thanks for adding the sound bytes, I was curious what that beast would sound like.

Hi Bholder,
Congratulations on the Tricone 12-string! What a fascinating guitar! Like others, I wondered, "What would that sound like?" So your soundcloud files were really helpful! I bet I would have a ball with one of those! Very cool! Good for you! And welcome to the AGF, too! Glad you are here! - Glenn

Here's another sample, a Lucky Man cover, with fingerpicks. I swear I used to be able to play this cleanly lol.

Wow, this looks and sounds like a monster guitar. Thanks for sharing your pictures and some first rate picking.
