removing LR Baggs VTC from J35 - is this a DIY?
I want to take the VTC out of my 2018 J35. Is that something I can do myself? How much would the saddle lower if I take it out? If it only brings the action down a smidge I probably dont need to worry about getting a setup and having a tech do it?
I dont EVER plug in and just want to get it out. Dan Last edited by Kerbie; 06-15-2019 at 05:28 PM. |

I took mine out of my J-35 without much of a problem. The saddle was lower, but new ones aren't hard to find; StewMac offers intonated bone bridges for not much money. You may have a bit of a problem getting the whole assembly out intact (including the jack, etc.) but it shouldn't be too bad. You will also need a new jack pin. I recommend the Larrive.com site for chrome or Ivoroid replacements.
The improvement in sound was easily worth the trouble. |

Nice and easy. I took mine out of a previously owned J-15. Needed a new saddle as the element is quite substantial and the action was a little too low for me.
As per the first comment you can get end pins to replace the jack. Taylor and Larrivee do them.
