Default removing LR Baggs VTC from J35 - is this a DIY?

I want to take the VTC out of my 2018 J35. Is that something I can do myself? How much would the saddle lower if I take it out? If it only brings the action down a smidge I probably dont need to worry about getting a setup and having a tech do it?

I dont EVER plug in and just want to get it out.

Dan

I took mine out of my J-35 without much of a problem. The saddle was lower, but new ones aren't hard to find; StewMac offers intonated bone bridges for not much money. You may have a bit of a problem getting the whole assembly out intact (including the jack, etc.) but it shouldn't be too bad. You will also need a new jack pin. I recommend the Larrive.com site for chrome or Ivoroid replacements.

The improvement in sound was easily worth the trouble.

Nice and easy. I took mine out of a previously owned J-15. Needed a new saddle as the element is quite substantial and the action was a little too low for me.

As per the first comment you can get end pins to replace the jack. Taylor and Larrivee do them.

And in the end you'll have reduced the value of your guitar when you go to resell it since it will no longer have a pickup.
