Default Doyle Dykes Back w/Guild?

I’m trying to determine if I imagined something or if anyone else had heard this. Possibly, almost a year ago or more, I saw Doyle Dykes proclaim on a FB or YouTube video that he was back with Guild. He seemed excited and had his old signature models out and said he would see his Godin through its launch and move on. Can’t find the videos now.

I swear this happened but it appears he’s still with Godin and I’ve seen no sign of him working with Guild. Does anyone else know what happened? Well, besides Godin pointing to a contract he had signed...

He's not with Guild any longer. They did talk a while ago, but that did not happen.

Glad to see I didn’t imagine it. That’s a shame, I would’ve loved to have seen his signature models return. Anyone hear why it fell through?

He's been posting a lot of videos playing Ovations lately. Not sure if he has a deal with them or just likes them.

I had the incredible experience of meeting Doyle and hearing him perform at the old Ovation\Guild factory about ten years ago. Ren Ferguson and Doyle were debuting the Guild DD6MC - a signature guitar made of incredible quilted maple. The string separation on this guitar was amazing, however, I believe that you had to be Doyle Dykes to bring out the guitar’s potential (it needed to be played hard). I would love to have one of these in my stable.

He has promoted Taylor, Guild and Godwin (officially); for awhile he was associated with Jim Olson too. Honestly, this man could pick up a plastic guitar from the toy department and make it sound good.

I saw Doyle at an appearance in November 2019. He was using GODIN guitars at that event, which was associated with one of the major independent music shops in the Detroit area.

The shop had Godin and Seagull guitars for trial and purchase after Doyle's appearance. No Guilds.

He told a story recently that Ovation was his first endorsement and that he's collected some Adamases(sp?) over the years and he's a big fan. I think that, while he's a Godin artist by trade, his favorite guitars include his Olsons, Kirk Sands, and Ovations.

Personally, I'd love to see a nylon version of his Godin signature model.

Here he is on Huckabee in Aug 2019 with his early 2010s Guild. Now, he’s never seen with a Guild and he hasn’t released anything new with Godin. My guess is that something didn't work out and he decided to ride out another agreement with Godin.

Based on all the vids he’s been posting with his Ovations and Adameses (including a newly acquired 81 Glen Campbell) I am starting to agree that he may start a new relationship with Ovation soon. And it would be good for Ovation, who has been in a lull for almost a decade, and seems to be finally getting their production and marketing up to speed. They’d benefit from a clinician like Doyle to evangelize their instruments.

Godin has a signature model but the few videos that I saw him play it didn't convince me of the sound. Too electric for me. They usually list their artists on the websites.

Maybe he'll come back to Taylor too! I have a beautiful quilted maple Taylor signature D Dykes guitar. I met him about 10 years ago and he played my guitar for about a half hour. Super player and such a nice guy.

Not that anyone is dying for this thread to continue but Doyle played his Guild signature at a recent church live stream (along with his Godin and his Kirk Sand nylon):

And he just did a video for Vintage Guitar Magazine where he played his old Guild Starfires and shared his signature model as well:

Does this mean he’s back with Guild? I don’t know. Do all his recent Ovation vids mean he’s back with Ovation (his first endorsement). I don’t know.

One thing is for certain: this man loves guitars.

Yes, he loves guitars and has quite a few. You'd be hard pressed to find a brand he doesn't own and play. But he's not back with Guild.

I like to just keep reviving this thread as I see more Guild and Doyle updates lol.

Guild just shared this on their FB today, calling him a longtime Guild Artist.

Keeping this thread alive as Doyle seems to be implying he'll be "playing his Taylor signature model a lot more"
