Default Question for a Sunday night

Can you change a 1/3/4" width neck to a 1/11/16" neck by simply changing the nut and saddle or is this not done?

The actual neck width would obviously not change but you might like the string spacing. You can opt to have either the low E or the high E maintain its distance from the edge of the neck or equally reduce the distance or each E string

The guitar neck of course is a fixed size but the nut string spacing can be changed. I have a yamaha with 1-11/16 and an alvarez with 1-3/4, both have the same string spacing which I am about to change with a new nut on the alvarez. Bridge is more dependent on the pin spacings so not as straight forward to modify.
