https://www.musiciansfriend.com/ampl...itar-combo-amp At $199 street (often less - far less - at a Coupon/Holiday Sale) you almost can't afford not to have one if you're a tube tone junkie, and if you're into easy DIY mods (speaker/tube swaps) IME they make a perfect platform for customizing your tone...

Wow! What an excellent collection. Guessing there are very few people who own 3 Zemaitis. I've never even seen one before.

That may be true, but as I said, they fly under the radar. And although they are somewhat expensive if bought new (the Japanese made ones), they aren't that expensive if bought used. The reissues don't hold their value that well so the used prices are reasonable. I only bought one of mine new on a closeout so I got a good price. And they are made very well, the necks can be setup to play with very low action with no fret buzz. I paid more for my Gretsch 6120T that any of these Zs, even if you include the mods to any one of them.
What makes them different then my Gibsons is the 25" scale length 24 fret design, which moves the neck pickup back, and that helps get a really clean neck pickup tone, although it does lose a little of the Gibson LP thickness which I also love! All of my Zs ring like a tuning fork, and I think that has to do alot with the very well made hardware! Here's a review I just found on my Disctop guitar... https://www.vintageguitar.com/3479/zemaitis-gz-3200df/ And here's one for the metal top... https://www.premierguitar.com/articl...-101-nt-review My guitars sound like more like the originals than the ones reviewed, but they get the general vibe right in the reviews. Another thing I did to mine was put Gotoh 1:21 ratio tuners on them, These tuners have the famous Gotoh 510 guts, but are engraved like the top of my guitars, and provide seriously accurate tuning. They were a direct retrofit some no drilling required And the wiring jobs that I did in these really were a step up from the stock job... this is what I ripped out (notice the cheap caps, pots, and solder blobs)... this is how I wired mine (with VIP pots which are FANTASTIC, and right to spec .022 Vit Q Spraque PIO Caps)...
