Default Here is what I bought for my first home studio

After reading your comments (thank you), and watching several YouTube videos on the subject, I ordered the following today from Amazon Mexico:

1) Focusrite Scarlett Solo Interfaz de audio USB (3ra generacion) con Pro Tools (I bought the 2i2 model that accommodates two mikes)
2) Samson C01 Micrafono condensador de diafragma grande hipercardioide (inexpensive, but good starter microphone)
3) Hola. Maosica Mic Stand, One Hand Clutch (very good reviews on Amazon)
4) KRK KNS-6400 Audafonos Profesionales para Estudio (head phones)
5) Aokeo - Escudo aislante premium para Micrafono (pop filter)
6) AmazonBasics Cable de micrafono XLR macho a hembra (I bought several cables.)

I’m not familiar with any of those but that interface has caught my eye. Do you need phantom power with that condenser mic?

Someone else here will know. I'm learning on the job, and don't even know what phantom power is. I'm expecting to make some mistakes, but I'm pretty sure all of this will work together just fine. My selection is a composite of information from three sources:

1) This site
2) Amazon reviews
3) The following YouTube videos

What is Phantom Power and why do I need it?

The Focusrite Scarlett Solo does have phantom power.

That looks like a decent starter setup and should work fine. I have gotten very good results from similar (Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 and inexpensive Behringer B1 mic, which is likely in the same quality ballpark as the Samson).

At first glance I couldn’t see a 48v button because that pic from the site is not high res enough. But now I see it. I might buy this thing. I currently have an old 8 track tascam and a condenser mic (the brand actually escapes me right now, but I know it didn’t break the bank). The tascam does the job, but the whole process of recording with it and then connecting to the pc, yarda yada is a real pain. Even getting it to start recording is quite the process.

I think that is a decent starter recording gear setup.

Sooner than later I would look at getting some good but inexpensive powered studio monitors.

And one more microphone.

The Solo supports only a single mic.

It says "solo" but it's actually one step up -- a 2i2 -- which supports two microphones. It's about double the cost of the solo.

The 2i2 has phantom power for both channels, so you don't have to worry if you get other condenser mics in the future.

It's hard to find an interface in production today (even in the last 20 years or so) that has mic pres and doesn't have phantom power.

I've not seen a "Solo 2i2", it's usually one or the other.

You are correct. It's simply the way that Amazon has labeled the product in Mexico (internally). The photo for the product clearly shows the "2i2", and it's about twice the price of the real solo, which Amazon also sells. The photo in my "cart" and in all correspondence clearly shows the "2i2."

The phantom power isn't on by default though. My Scarlett 2i4 phantom power button lights up when its pushed on.
