Default Tellier Mac Ebony 13 fret 00

Been quite a while since I posted a build thread here so will document this guitar. Will be a 13 fret elevated fret board 00 with Macassar Ebony back and sides and a Bear Claw Engelman top.

More will follow as the build progresses

Thanks for looking
Fred

I really like elevated fretboards - looking forward to seeing this one. The sapwood along the centre of the back looks great!

Thanks for posting Fred, and I echo Geoff’s compliments about that lovely set of back wood.

Looks like a deep body, or are my eyes deceiving me?

And is that a shoulder bevel going in? It would make for a very comfortable little guitar. Does the voicing of the top change at all when there is a bevel taking up some of the lower bout?

Code:

Yes a bit as it stiffens the lower bout a bit. Also the bulk of the tapered Bevel block and the block for the scoop cutaway raises the Helmholtz frequency of the body a bit.

The body depth is 4 1/4 at the butt and 3 1/2 at the neck block.

This guitar is based on a prototype 13 fret 00 in bubinga and Sitka I created a few years back. I felt that this guitar style would be a great platform to try the elevated fret board concept on. My buddy Paul Murphy played this guitar at his studio in Northville MI when it was quite new. Recorded with my Android phone using it's built in mic.

I have had slow progress on the guitar as I have been level sanding, buffing and now final assembling a couple other projects. My shop time have also been limited the last week as my wife had a shoulder replacement so needs a lot of help and care.

The top and back are braces and voiced so decided a few progress photos could be posted.

Thanks for looking any comments are appreciated

This guitar finally made it to the spray booth, it went into a delay period due to more pressing projects and guitar shows getting ahead of it. now just hanging around waiting for the Lacquer to cure.

Thanks for looking
