Christmas and my classical
I have been working on finger picking several traditional Christmas songs and have found that the nylon strings of my old classical just seem to sound better for those songs.
Is it just me, or does nylon sound better to some of you also? |

I agree. Nylon strings definitely have their place . . .

Well I'm biased - started with classical and still playing it 45 years later. I like the dynamic range of nylon, as pat shows above |

Nylon has a lot more range of tone and expression. I find steel acoustic to be a lot more percussive and brash, but classical is warm and rounder. They both have their place. I prefer classical, but probably because that’s what I started on.

Love nylon strings - had one most of my 60 years playing. Getting ready to buy a new Godin electric nylon as we speak.

Yes, I agree. I'm getting my first "real" classical on 12/25/19 (Cordoba C5). I'm looking forward it.

Been practicing "Dance of the Sugar-Plum Fairy" on my old Martin 00-18G.
What fun. |

Also agree. I'm a steel string player as well, but enjoy playing nylon string for Christmas, and increasingly so when I play solo.

I have been enjoying my new used classical for Christmas tunes as well. Grateful to have what I have and able to play what I do how I do. Feel blessed!
