Did you go with the Carvin branded one or a generic one?

Carvin branded. I know I should have probably tried to save a few bucks by going generic but wanted the brand name.

My Carvin WG5 5.8GHz Wireless System works flawlessly and I can't hear any difference in my amplified tone between it and my Mogami Gold Instrument Cord. For a $150, or less when on sale at Carvin, this device is a no-brainer!

Default New Carvin 5.8GHz wireless guitar system

My son plays in a St.Louis meetup on Thursdays and Sundays. Thirty or so local musicians step in and out with the change of each song, some switching instruments when they do. I thought this would be a great test bed for the ZXK 5.8 set up. My son changes to as many as five different instruments during the night. I have amazon delivering Monday to St. Louie and will let you know his findings next week about ease of switching between instruments, sound quality of different gear and of course drop outs if any.

Thanks, Chickee, and I'm excitedly awaiting your son's report!

I will have to give this a try. I tried the sennheiser XSW-D but mine was noisy so I returned it. I wish the Carvin was available at Canadian dealers and that the battery life was a bit better but I definitely do want to try it!

I have a new 5.8 system arriving Monday that supposedly has 8 hour battery life. I’ll post a review of it if it checks out.

It seems that Carvin’s, Capparelli’s, RiffStation’s and ZXK are all the identical same manufacturer 5.8 wireless units. That makes me happy. Why, you ask? People seem to like them and the way they work, no matter the name on the box. And honestly, for $94 with a coupon delivered, what can be bad.

Is this going to be a new version? If so, I might hold off on ordering one. Four and a half hours is not really enough for me.

It’s a different company. I’ll post a YouTube video if it’s worthy.

My M5 (looks like it’s identical to the Carvin) passed the sound test at home yesterday and passed flying colors at tonight’s gig. Like the others, it feels cheap and I wonder about it’s durability. But for $75 on Amazon, it was worth taking a chance.

Exactly. Just buy two and have a spare/backup.

Thanks for the clarification. Honestly, sometimes I wonder if all of these companies literally get their wireless products made by the same manufacturers. I will check out the Carvin though. Still not sure why the Sennheiser unit was so noisy. Must have been faulty.
