2004 Martin J-41 Special, No Longer Available, Keeping It!
Having purchased this one a little over a month ago, I told myself it would be passed down to a family member but for two main reasons it is once again available.
First, I own a HJ-38 Stephan Grossman which is almost identical to the J-41 in both build an tonal quality. The J-41 maybe just a tad brighter in the upper register. So alike I cannot justify keeping both models. Secondly, I just forked out more than $7000 on a pair of hearing aids. I no longer have to repeatedly ask my wife “what did you say” every time I turn around. Setup and playability are excellent with everything being original to the guitar. Original pins will be reinstalled upon sale, it currently wears ebony… Cosmetics are near mint with the only marks being very slight scuffing by two of the treble side tuners. Very light pick guard swirling for an 18 year old guitar. Specifics can be found among the photos. $4200 + $125 shipping within the lower 48 states. PayPal FF preferred, USPS Money Order, or Venmo if not listed as for goods or services. Local pickup available if you live within driving distance of Gallatin, TN… IMG_1660513970.160387.jpgIMG_1660513986.304162.jpgIMG_1660513996.646047.jpgIMG_1660514013.140109.jpgIMG_1660514029.164250.jpgIMG_1660514039.480650.jpgIMG_1660514049.846191.jpgIMG_1660514059.802551.jpgIMG_1660514067.685860.jpgIMG_1660514096.478378.jpgIMG_1660514105.737209.jpgIMG_1660514133.724156.jpgIMG_1660514143.590767.jpgIMG_1660514153.598121.jpgIMG_4683.jpg Last edited by randyp6; 08-18-2022 at 05:52 PM. |

Many of these J-41 Specials from the ‘04 - ‘06 time frame, including their OM and D counterparts,
were purchased by collectors and kept in long term pristine condition. Sorry to see your parting with this one Randy. Last edited by TennesseeWalker; 08-17-2022 at 06:09 AM. |

With the dread-depth body this does seem like it would be a powerhouse.
Is the 12th fret fingerboard width on the spec sheet a misprint? 2-1/16"? |

2004 Martin J-41 Special, Limited Edition of 173 Guitars…
Not sure why Martin would include that measurement but inside binding to inside binding measures approximately 2.142” and the string spacing at the bridge is 2.25”

I appreciate the trade offers but I would prefer a direct sale… |

Did you see where POTUS announced today that hearing aids will soon (by the end of the year) be available OTC without a prescription? Avg saving expected to be $3K+. Maybe you can keep it! Then I wouldn't be so tempted to buy it because it's a knock out!

Fantastic looking top on this guitar ! The whole instrument appears to be in great shape.
Another owner of an HJ-38SG here. If I did not own the Grossman I think I'd be making a purchase. Had a late 80's J-40M with a low profile neck and narrow saddle and nut spacing which I usually stay away from, but it sounded very good. Top looked a lot like this one. Whoever ends up with this J-41 Special should be a very happy picker. Best of luck with the sale.

“I think we’re going to need a bigger bucket!”
What a sensational looking instrument. I have an older J-40 that is a cathedral of sound—this must be spectacular. |
