Default Good news, I can play guitar again...

I had a carpal tunnel scare in my left hand, three fingers went numb, and it was difficult to play, Seen a doctor and he did lots of nerve tests and said i needed a padded elbow brace, I got one at CVS and I can play again !!!!!!

Nice to find an easy fix to what an be a very complicated issue.
I had more than a few clients who referred to CTS as "Crapal Tunnel Syndrome."
And with a staight face.

It is great that you have found a solution; however, you should think about the cause. I'm not a doctor but I have had similar issues in the past that are now just an afterthought. If you can strengthen your forearms, you will likely not have future problems. This is a very simple thing that can be done in about 5 minutes each day.

I know how you feel- I had carpal tunnel last year and couldn't use my picking ring finger. I now have cubital tunnel, downsizing to a 00 size guitar seems to have helped.

I've been having a conversation with a very busy percussionist friend of mine who has had his life transformed by a course of visits to a Harley St skeletal specialist. He has come away with a map of his occupational injuries, a plan for dealing with them (and not exacerbating them) and a handy machine for helping with muscle tone and blood flow.

I'll be investigating further but the advice given to him was - address the cause.

That's great to hear. I know the relief in getting a treatment that works. I've been dealing with (successfully so far) ulnar nerve neuropathy and trigger finger, both in the fretting arm/hand. Get diagnosed early and stick with whatever treatment a good doc recommends! Play on!

Excellent news! My son-in-law just had carpal tunnel surgery and is now recovering. It happens to so many people. Glad you are doing better!
