1920s Oscar Schmidt Stella Grand Concert, 26” scale *$1300 shipped*

This is a holy grail of country blues guitars. Bought this from Stay Gold Guitars early this year. It was completely rebuilt by their luthier, Dan Lambert… who specializes in restoring old Stellas. Here’s a run down of the guitar and the work that was done: Circa late 1920s Stella made by Oscar Schmidt. This guitar is a rarity in that is in between the dimensions of typical grand concert and typical concert size dimensions. The lower bout width is 14.0" (compared to 14.5" of a typical grand concert) and the scale length is 26.0" (compared to 26.5" of a typical grand concert). This guitar has been rebuilt by Dan Lambert including repairs/enhancements to the original ladder bracing, retaining original wood whenever possible, neck reset, new ebony fretboard with slight radius, new position markers, new ebony pyramid bridge, new frets, and new rosewood nut and bone saddle. Also, a carbon rod has been inserted into the neck to enhance the structural integrity for another 100 years of playing. It is in the same condition when I bought it. It does have several repaired cracks in the back and sides. There are some dings and scratches but overall is in great player grade condition for a 90+ year old guitar. This is not a museum piece, but it’s a player. It plays really beautifully and is perfect for finger picking. It has all the chime and midrange these Stellas are known for. It was recommended to not tune any higher than a half step below standard.. I tune it down to C# and it really seems to sound best tuned low. The only issue is the tuners are original and the E and A strings tuners can be tough to turn. Making tuning adjustments are fine but when you’re changing strings it can be a little rough and slow. Comes with a hard-case (the bottom was separating a bit but I used wood glue to repair it, so it’s solid but I left the tape on there to not rip off the tolex). need to sale fast, super reduced price, bought for $1900).
