This one came back to the shop this week for a new Renaissance head. I'd forgotten what a nice banjo it is!

The custom strap tied on with cotton string makes me a bit uncomfortable, but hey, it isn't MY banjo! I do like to think my babies are being protected from the dangers out there in the world, though.

Out Of The Clear Blue Of The Western Sky ... came an email yesterday from Eden Pool saying my banjo is in its final assembly stage and will be mailed next week. There was also a link for the final payment which I did yesterday, so all I do now is wait.

Frankly, I'm nervous as to what I'll receive as my last correspondence with Eden was in September 2021. I'd indicated my final preferences for some hardware changes and yesterday's email had the entire chain of correspondence between us so I know she would have been aware of my final choices and hopefully, she'd indicated them to Lukas. More to come ...

Current Banjos:
Vega No. 2 Tubaphone
OME North Star Walnut
Rickard 12" Maple Ridge Dobson
Pisgah 12" Walnut Tubaphone
Bart Reiter Regent Whyte Laydie

On Order:
Ozark Custom 12-inch Figured Cherry

Congratulations! Hope it's just like you want and gets there soon!

Looks like you've got several nice ones now! I'd love to find a Vega No. 2. For your next one look at Stone Banjo Co.; Steve builds some nice ones at a great price. I've got 2 12 inchers from him. Also have 3 11" Rickard's.

Nashville Banjo is making some very fine banjos, and Dave Dillard is a super nice guy to boot!

Dang! Well, the week has pretty much ended for the so-called mailing week of my banjo and it ain't arrived nor have I received a USPS tracking number. Ozark still hasn't responded to my email of early last week inquiring about the features I think I'm getting. Well, I guess my waiting will keep progressing onward from its current 4-year-3-month wait for my Custom Mystery Ozark Banjo ...

Current Banjos:
Vega No. 2 Tubaphone
OME North Star Walnut
Rickard 12" Maple Ridge Dobson
Pisgah 12" Walnut Tubaphone
Bart Reiter Regent Whyte Laydie

New to the game--mildly contemplating an open back 5 string. I have no experience, other than playing guitar and steel/dobro for a lot of years. Logic would say to get a starter instrument like a Gold Tone or a Goodtime, but I was wondering if there's a higher quality instrument (for not crazy money), that would be easy to sell without losing much if things didn't work out? For example I know that some guitar brands can sell quickly for what you pay, especially if you buy used, vs some high end more obscure instruments are a hard sell and you can take a beating. Anything like that in the banjo world?
Thanks

Pisgah Banjo Co.($1200-$1800)
or
Rickard Banjo($1800-$2500)

Stone znanko Co and Hoyt make really good banjos in the $900-1100 range but resale is iffy; probably 60% of new price.

I won't buy a Deering for personal reasons AND they don't use truss rods in their cheaper models.

Gold Tone CCOT is a great budget friendly banjo.

I’d add a used Enoch Tradesman if you can find one appropriately depreciated.

Last thing I saw on Facebook was that Lukas was on tour with the E and E band (Darol Anger, Joe K. Walsh, etc.)
