Default Hurt Foot Rest

Today I stomped my foot rest for the third time. I wonder how many times I’ll be able to bend it back into shape. Talk about one having a learning problem.

Dump the foot rest.

Instead, get something like this:

Shoe Shine Valet Kit

(I don't have this particular one, just post here as an example).

I guess it can survive many of your 'stomps', and you have somewhere to store your guitar thingies (strings, tuner, winder, ....).

Or get a guitar support:

Yeah, I saw that before. It’s neat, but pretty much unobtainable I think. One would hafta figger out a way to make it adjustable too.

Anyway, my foot rest is more or less bent back into shape. They sure bend easily, or I’m really strong as heck for an old man.

What’s a Yoga Block? ———- Never mind, I found some on Amazon, however I already have a thigh cushion, but it’s too high. I’m thinking of shaving some of it down, but I dunno . . .

Go to Goodwill or the thrift store of choice and buy a stack of old books. Stack 'em up to the proper height, duct tape 'em together and 'voila
- a custom footrest. Wouldn't think it would have to be adjustable unless you were changing chair heights all the time. Might be a little tough to fit in your guitar case, though.

Or look for a smaller Costco box. Ever tried to break one of those things down for recycling? They are steel-belted cardboard construction! I used one for guitar playing for a long time. Stylish too

That’s a pretty good idea, Skip, but a bit hard for an ol’ Master of English to do. Stomp on books! My word . . .

I might give it a try, thanks.

A six pack cooler on top of a few books. Or if you luck out, it is just the right height without the books. At the very least you are abusing fewer books and you have a place for your six pack while you play. You've seen mine, haven't you?

Here’s a thought — Hang a rope or belt from the ceiling with some kinda stirrup at the end. Then one would simply sit down, put a foot in the stirrup and whale away. No more stomping!

I think you're doing just fine. Harder and harder to find stuff you can fix and isn't disposable.

Well, I found a sturdy plastic basket that’s just about the correct height. It’s a bit wide but pretty much unstompable. Onward and upward!

Yeah I've gone through a few foot rests this way! Seems like you're sorted with a box but if you want something a bit more discreet I do find the foot rests from On Stage Stands pretty durable.

My one has lasted a good 4 years now, using it nearly every day.

Nah, Fraz, I think I’ll just stick with what I got. A thigh rest would be better, but I’ll just hafta wait until someone gives me one.
