Default Paul Simon recording techniques?

Does anyone know how the acoustic guitars were recorded on Simon and Garfunkel recordings, especially Parsley, Sage... (1966)?

I understand that Paul Simon was famous for playing a Guild around that time but I found some 1966 recording studio pictures where he has a Martin and there is a Neumann U67 in front of the 14th fret - however it is unclear if the photo was staged or is actually how they were recording it.

I particularly like the fingerpicked sound on "Feeling Groovy'.

Any knowledge on the guitars and techniques used would be appreciated!

Wish I could help! You have awesome taste. My fave (besides that whole album) is "America".

Good luck!

Didn't Fred Carter play guitar on most of the classic recordings?

There was a feature on him in Fretboard Journal some time ago.

Yup, the U47 and U67 played a big role back then. The small diaphragm condensers weren't really coming into vogue until the late 60s. The U87 began then too. I think we forget how wide the equipment cost gap was even a few years ago. A typical nice regional studio could only afford a few good condensers even as late as 1985 - that's why the artists went to the label studios or the big independents - the best gear, staff, and spaces.
