Default Problem recording mic through Line 6 TonePort UX1

I have Line 6 TonePort UX1 for a few years now but never used with mic (instrument/guitar input was always working fine). When I tried to record with mic (dynamic - Sennheiser e835) on Sonar or Reaper I just couldn't get any signal. I'm wondering if mic input on TonePort is defective or it's some software (audio) settings I need to change to fix a problem. Mic itself is working fine.

I believe that you need to select a different INPUT SELECT, and you can do this from GearBox or PodFarm (Line6 Input Midi Devices dialog) - see pages 32 in the PodFarm user manual (which you can download from the Line6 site).

Thanks for advice!

I did work through Mic input on GearBox.

Hi Justinian,

great to hear. I just checked it on Sonar (v7 on Windows XP) as well and got it to work with no issues.

Firstly, use GearBox to select the right mic input and check that it works.
I assume that you have the GearBox VST plug-ins installed.
Open Sonar, create a new project.
Select track 1 (selected by default).
Right-click the FX box (left hand top), select Audio-FX, then Line6 and GearBox Mono (or any of the other ones).
When the GearBox screen opens, select a Mic preset.
On track 1 click on the Input box and select any of the ASIO Line6 inputs
On the effects track (left side) , click on Audio1 and select ASIO Toneport Outputs.
CLick on the R (Record=On/Off) button on Track 1, and you should see the Mic signal coming through.

A bit complicated but once you work through it, it's easy.

Hope it helps, and ifyou have any questions, PM me and I'll send you some screenshots.

Cheers.

Thanks again!

When I was using just guitar in Sonar or some other applications I didn't have to use GearBox and I was assuming that it will work same way with mic but obviously it didn't. You need GearBox to select mic input and it works fine either if you just open GearBox and Sonar separately or you select GearBox from Sonar's FX option.
