Default Voltage/Connector Question

I’m trying to daisy chain two 12V pedals (560mA & 400mA) with one 12V 1,000mA power adapter. Would any splitter work (like the 1-Spot daisy chain cable) or would the splitter need to be rated for 12V and specifically center negative like my pedals? Same question for a power adapter extension cable. Thx!

As long as everything is in parallel, and all the connectors are the correct dimensions, it should be no problem.

You don't need to worry about voltage rating at these low voltages and cables intended for 9 volts will be just fine.

Now capacitors are a different story...

One potential gotcha with daisy chaining two (or more) pedals from the same supply port: You need to make sure the pedals don't have conflicting ground references. Some, but not all, tie their audio ground to supply negative. Some tie to supply positive (usually 9V negative center), and some don't tie at all.

The best way to check is with an ohmeter, though you might just try it. You'll know if it doesn't work cause the audio will sound bad or not at all.

This potential gotcha is why most pedal board supplies have multiple output ports that are floating (not referenced to each other).
