Thomann Setup
Hello all, first post here!
I've ordered the Recording King ROS-11-FE3-TBR from Thomann. Before I placed the order, I emailed them asking if they check/set up the guitar prior to shipping out. I placed my order yesterday and received an email today saying : We will be happy to check and set up your Recording King ROS-11-FE3-TBR All Solid 000 A/E Guitar for you before shipping. This setup includes: - Visual inspection of the guitar - Checking the Fishman Sonitone pickup - String height adjustment - Checking and adjusting the neck curvature - Checking the octave purity - Checking and adjusting the nut slots - Checking and machining the fret ends For this service we charge 45,- EUR. So I'm just wondering if anyone has got Thomann to set their guitar up before shipping and if it is worth it? Thanks in advance! |

Just an opinion: check those things yourself. If you need help in correcting something, take it to a local luthier or guitar technician.

I think it depends on where you are.
I have ordered one guitar from Thomann. It had what turned into a warranty issue that might have been found in a setup. I did not order their setup. While they absolutely were willing to work with me and fix things it involved expensive and time consuming international shipping as I am in the US. And my guitar was travelling around the world and not in my possession for multiple months to get it resolved While the response of doing yourself is normally reasonable and what I always do, were I to order from Thomann again I would choose the setup option to have them take a closer inspection before sending it out. |
