I like the simple design and welcome the sans cutaway for a change. Won't get to gaze upon it with my own eyes till Fri.

That should be an extremely fine guitar. Congrats -- pictures will be required.

At first I thought 'chocolate' was describing the tone....then I realized it was the color! Not sure what a chocolately bass would sound like now that I think about, but at the time I was buying into it Actually some of the overtones on my RT are kinda vanilla and cinammon.

Maybe we need a whole palette of flavors to describe our cherished guitar tones, like fine wines.

Anyway, this is the most impressive 'new' tonewood around, based on the things I've read coming from luthiers. Plus the most striking visually. And a fascinating genesis to boot.

Congrats to all the lucky owners. Two weeks from receiving my dream RT and hear I am getting giddy over another guitar.....not good.

Cedar.
It sounds similar to cedar.

I'm sure it varies, but I've heard the sinker doesn't change the redwood too much - more of what you get redwood for. Redwood at its best has some of the warmth of cedar with some of the clarity of spruce and you get all that great visual besides!

Default New Taylor

My new BTO Taylor, Sinker Redwood top, EIR back and sides w/ Ebony binding. Incredible sounding, best I've played so far personally. Pronounced lows, solid mids and crisp, full trebles

Wow! Congrats on your very unique and beautiful guitar! Is that ebony binding? I stumbled upon this tonewood and have become a big evangelist within the last few months. It makes me play every day. I have a sinker/coco R. Taylor that is destined to be my last acoustic- its that entrancing. Get ready to be smitten.

Absolutely beautiful. I imagine tone-wise it has a little of everything.

Redwood looks beautiful. I've yet to hear it in person, but I hope I do soon. Keep the pics coming!

Default Sinker Redwood

http://s431.photobucket.com/albums/q...newbaby003.jpg

I love my sinker redwood guitar. I noticed a huge difference one day in the overall tone and volume of my guitar. It took about 6 months to fully break in. I played 6 gigs in 5 days and when I put the new strings on "POW" she was a whole new guitar. I can't fully describe what the sound is like but, in my opinion, it doesn't sound like cedar. I also had a traditional redwood top guitar and it doesn't sound anything like that one did. One thing I notice is the complexity of the tone. It has many overtones in the background enhancing the sound, to me anyway. I have a feeling that you will love your sinker!!!!

I played a new R.Taylor with cocbolo back and sides with a sinker top.
The bass was nice but the mids and highs were dull. I wasn't impressed.
But I'm not without my doubts that over time, that top will open up and sound wonderful. Don't know fer sure on that note.

It's deeper than Floater redwood.
