Leo was a genius. He didn't play guitar but he designed first the Tele and then the "improvement" to the Tele, the Strat. And of course the amps.

Wow. If Leo was alive he should have been the one wishing you a Happy Birthday on your birthday.

Leo Fender was a true revolutionary. Like Henry Ford and Steve Jobs, he not only revolutionized an industry but also popular culture and the world. And he did it with a clean sheet of paper. No preconceptions. He had no experience as a musician. He was an electrical engineer. But he was a good listener. And he knew how to create a working man's guitar with only a modicum of skilled labor.
Sheer brilliance.

that was great! He never played guitar, bizarre. Just totally weird, this guy that changed everything and kept with it never actually played. Im one that loves the strat, Ive had many of them. If I wasnt an old man Id like to get another. I did have a short tele phase but I soon saw the error of my ways and got rid of the last one. Related, I had a friend that had a band. He collected guitars and one of them was a Les Paul. He said that if I would play in his band I could keep but not own it. I took it home and a couple of days later returned it. I regret never having played in his band now but we remained friends for many, many years. The point is, strat or nothing. PS I did have a G&L strat mahogany body for a short while but I prefer ash.
