String gauge for 12 string electric (Gretsch)
I have a Gretsch 12 string electric. It comes with .10s installed from the factory. The setup seems good, with low action, but it's harder to play than even my acoustic 12 string. I wonder if some .8 or .9 gauge strings might do the trick? Or do you think those would be too light? I have tuned down a half-step but it's still not easy. The action seems really good, but I wonder if a setup may be needed anyway?
My only other electric 12string that I've owned was a Dano and it was much easier to play. The Gretsch has (to me) better tone, but that's kind of negated by it being harder to play.

Tune it up to pitch and have it looked at by a pro tech - IME something's not quite right - then try a set of these:

Thanks Steve! I think a trip to the tech is a good idea.

Went by today and had it setup and changed the strings. It plays like butter now!
