Default What's this sort of strumming called?

So I've been getting "Mandolin Orange" and I've seen Emily Frantz strum a certain way in a couple of songs:

It looks like she is picking individual strings before certain strums. Does that "technique" have a name?

It's flat picking, not strumming. A simple bump-dit, not even bump-ditty.

Yes, it's a mix of strumming and flat picking.
The skill in flatpicking is to pick a chosen bass note, usually the chord root on beat 1. And then either strum or pick in and out of the other strings, generally in the same down-up movement as strumming, but only hitting one or two strings at a time. So the pick kind of dips in and out of the strings rather than moving right across them.

She is not being too precise, though, just aiming vaguely for bass strings on beats 1 and 3, with more of a strum on the higher strings on 2 and 4. That gives enough dynamic variation to make the rhythm more interesting.

I kind of play the same way Emily does. My grandfather played that way also. Walking bass lines played along with the rhythm.
