Start learning where the notes are on the fretboard. Just learn a few at a time and soon you will have them all down. This will provide a great foundation which will help you learn faster.

There is no short cut to getting good at playing guitar. It takes focused practice. Lots of it.

It's perfectly Ok NOT to like a particular guitar player, style of music or brand of guitar.
However, people who DO like that artist/brand/music don't need to hear your views expressed in a derisive or disrespectful way. It is possible to not like someone/something yet still respect them. Next.

The AGF Commandment thread for Newbies
Play as many guitars as you can . Try different makes and models and sizes and wood combinations and nut widths.
Find what works for you . Don't worry about the name on the headstock or what famous people play. Buy the best guitar within your budget. Play what you like and like what you play.

If you're happy with your guitar - don't "upgrade" it because of something you read here.
