Here is the end graft in place. The sides are book matched and the figure is symmetrical. I'm very happy how well it lined up in the back here;

Yeah, if only I was Martin Simpson.

The end graft is really sweet Mark.

Thanks Jay and jzarifis,

I'm working in the spalted Tamarind in a couple places on the guitar. The truss rod cover and I'm thinking the heel cap will also have a touch. Not as much overall as I've done on other guitars, just accents. The aim is to let the "Tree" do the talking.

Default Binding

Here are some pics of the binding going on the back and sides;

The Brazilian Rosewood binding is actually a bit more brown that what you may be seeing on your screen. I'm quite happy with this color combination.

Thanks for looking!

I like the subtlety of the binding Mark, though that is my taste as far as binding goes anyway. Fantastic work as always, I look forward to seeing it with finish!!

The Tree mahogany is transformational in and of itself...but, Mark, you have even transformed that...thank you for sharing your fine craftsmanship with the rest of us while we can but stand in awe...

Thanks George and Billy boy!

One of the many things that originally drew me to building guitars was all the great materials you get to work with. I have been fortunate to have customers that are ordering these great materials for their guitars.

Here are some pictures of the binding and purfling being installed on the top;

This last picture the sound port getting a BRW binding ring;

There will be some clean-up and then we'll dig in on the neck

Thank-you for following along,
Mark

This end graft reminds me of a monte leone tailpiece, was that your intention?

Your right, it does kind of have the profile of an archtop tailpiece. Wasn't intentional, I have used this same style for years on all of my models and have just been happy with the look.
.
Thanks,
Mark

Default On to the neck

I got going on the neck today. Here are the laminates which add a little strength and stability to the neck. I typically use two maple strips with a cross grained center. In this case it will be Brazilian Rosewood;

Here I'm cutting the fret slots;

And a peek at how the fret board is going to look on the body;

The fret board binding will be Brazilian Rosewood with maple purfling strips;

Every time that Brazilian Rosewood touches a sander or blade you get a whiff of it's wonderful smell. What a pleasure to work with!

The aesthetic appeal of this guitar is just... "Holy Smokin' Wow!"
I can only begin to imagine with the wood combination and your (Mark) touch, this beauty will have the voice of an angel.

In addition to all the phenomenal tonewoods on this guitar, that fretboard is also spectacular!
