If you have all the eq you need at the board a Red-Eye may be a good choice. I have used the K&K XLR but it didn't satisfy me. The best all-in-one unit I've used with my K&K equipped guitars is the Radail Tonebone PZ-Deluxe.

I have the K&K Pure Preamp (non XLR version). I just got a Redeye. I A/B'd the two along with the Boss GE-7. And the Redeye was the best, the K&K was second, and the Boss was a distant third.

If you need EQ ... get the K&K. I will continue to use the K&K at open mics where I can attempt to compensate for some pretty weak PA gear and unknowledgeable hosts you find at some of these OMs.
