Default Pedal Board setup

Just got a Furman SPB-8C pedalboard, which seems to be a very versatile unit:

http://www.furmansound.com/product.php?div=01&id=SPB-8C

Obviously I can create a signal line of effects, one lined up after the other. It also appears that I can put some of these into the Furman sort of like you would through an effects loop on an amp. In other words, I have signal chain options but don't fully understand which is the best way to go.

Here are the effects that I use:

Boss TC3 Tuner
MXR Delay
LR Baggs Venue EQ/DI
Boomerang III Looper

There also will be a TC Helicon Voice Correct for the mic.

I typically have gotten reverb and delay by using my Nanoverb plugged in through the effects loop on my AER Compact 60/2, but that unit can be a bit quirky and create a gain-like distortion, which I don't want. May bag the unit if the MXR works alright.....

Any thoughts on how I should set up the pedal board would be most appreciated.

Simple rule of thumb for acoustic effects in the chain.
I do this for mine and it works great.

1. Tuners
2. EQ's
3. Compression/noise suppression
4. Modulation
5. Delays
6. Reverbs

Enjoy.

Give you an idea of mine.

1. Tuner
....1a. Sometimes the compressor when I play the twelve string guitar.
........Really smooths the sound out.
2. Chorus
3. Flanger
4. Phazer
5. Delay
6. Reverb

Thanks. That all makes sense and works well. The one question is this: does the looper go at the end of the chain or somewhere else?

I honestly don't know where a looper would go in the chain...sorry, can't help you with that one. I've never owned a looper but they look like lots of fun to play with.

The looper....
Do you want to reproduce your "looped" sound with effects or no effects?

With effects, its easy, put it front of your effects.

For a clean loop,ummm?????.....I used to have a diagram of a guy who did this and he used a volume pedal with it so he could by-pass the part of the pedal chain he wanted to...if that makes sense.

I have three pedals. Ernie bal vol. Tc electronic g-natural. And a boss looper. In that order. I did that so I could eliminate the effects when necessary. Sometimes delays and reverb can start growing exponentially when they are layered through a looper. So I will often times ellimiate them to clean up the layering. I don't use mods very much so I can't attest to that. Also I run the signal through the pedal boardfirst and then to the amp not the effects loop.

That's my 2cents.

I'm using a Pedaltrain PT2 pedalboard. It's large enough for my acoustic guitar gear and my electric guitar gear on one pedalboard. It's very easy to move stuff around and reconfigure the board. As soon as I get my new Radial PZ-Pre I'll be rearranging things again.

Yep! I played out yesterday and when I created some delay with the Nanoverb, which was run through the effects loop of the amp. When I started the looper some rather crazy layering started up.

But it didn't seem to bother the 3 year old twins who were showing off their dance moves to me.....

I'm finding that the best order is this:

Tuner > EQ > Delay > Looper > Reverb

wondering how far off the ground the pedal base of the furman pedalboard is?
do you use the built in stereo loop at all? does the top go on and easily and do the wheels work well?. thanks
i play 7 string acoustic electric thru a pedalboard with all the effects in a loop that goes thru my highlander pamdi so it mixes the effects in with the dry signal. my path is visual volume pedal (with tuner out to korg pitchblack) to
pamdi and the loop goes to boss phase shifter, digitech bad monkey, boss digital delay, morley steve vai wah, digitech hardwire reverb, fulltone tremolo and back to pamdi. (powered by vodoo labs pedal power II)

The base is about 1 1/4" off the ground. Works fine. The whole thing is very well designed and transports easily. Haven't done the stereo loop.
