Default NLSD - New lap steel day

I've been hankering for a lap steel for a while, although other things are higher on my wish list. However this suddenly popped up on ebay at a really good price so I jumped. It was missing the volume knob so I just grabbed one I had lying around.
Now - trying to decide on what tuning. I'm reasonably comfortable in G (DGDGBD) and open D, although the Dobro G (GBDGBD) tuning seems to be calling. But it confuses the heck out of me for some reason.

Recording King RG-35-SN. It has a really nice tone through my Fishman Loudbox mini.
