Ask Cuki to generate my version of the IR too. You can also send the recording to me (pickup left, mic right, no clipping, peaks within 15 db of clipping, at least 60 seconds, simple strumming or really anything OK) and I'll send you some IRs too.

Running my script (or Cuki's) at home is not hard and the link in my signature will tell you how. I'll support you through any problems you encounter.

The link in Jon's signature leads to Jon's code. If you want to have both use this link

It's the same website, just a different page.

Cuki, I see you have a Trance Amulet rig. Is it your fave? I haven't found a better one.

I first heard this rig at a Jackson Browne solo show in 2007. I was thunderstruck. It was the first pickup (which I hate -- all of them) that had the wooden tone of a $100 microphone. I have two of them in my Eastmans.

Yes it is but I never tried the Dazzo... So far my experiments with Pickup v8 tends to show that Dazzo could be a great competitor for Trance.

I think I'm about ready to try this. Can you tell me the difference between your IRs and Jon's? I'm confused about that.

The underlying basic math is the same, but the details are quite different. You should try both. My script is meant to be run on a previously recorded .wav file and Cuki's script has a recording interface built-in. My IR algorithm is one of the output options of Cuki's script (last I checked). Cuki has a version that runs on purchased math software that has additional features that he would need to run for you.

If you have any trouble running my script email me directly for help. If you've already got .wav files (pickup left, mic right, no clipping, peaks within 15 dB of clipping, and at least 60 seconds) you can email them to me and I'll run my script for you. My script searches the first 60 seconds for four three second snippets that meet my no clipping and decent SNR requirements, and even a recording that has some clipping or low volume sections will likely work if most of it is OK.

Open position strumming is generally good enough and you don't need to think too hard about what you record.

It's still the case, choose the correct output option and get Jon's recipe IR extra. So if you use the app (with graphic interface), you'll get IR files from both algorithm.

Both algorithm are efficient and will improve greatly your tone, making it more natural.

My algorithm is more accurate with respect to the mic tone and Jon's is closer to the pickup but in a very nice way. Jon's has some kind of build-in blend pickup tone. So it gives you a more direct feel and cutting tone.

my 2 cents,
Cuki

To be honest, as I'm a beginner, I'll definitely take you both up on the "email me the file" option... and on that note...

I was able to borrow a new Focusrite Scarlett 6i6. Do either of you have the time to walk me through the steps to get a recording through Audacity? I've not used Audacity in years and years. If there was a Garageband option, that might be easier for me, perhaps.

No pressure. Thanks. EDITED: TO BE USED WITH HX STOMP.

They do have very detailed instructions with slides for visual assist on their webpage about recording into GarageBand.

This is a fun learning experience that I would recommend to anyone with acces to an IR loader, i.e. Reaverb in Reaper for recording or any one of the pedal IR loaders for recording or gigs, mine is a Mooer Radar although I am also a happy TD user.

What emails should I use and would a condenser with phantom power be better than an SM57?
