Default D18 buying options

I'm looking to get a new d18, any tips on the best place to get one? In another thread, a couple people mention being able to get them from certain dealers at around 1800, but this is a bit of a mystery to me. Agf sponsors? calling smaller retailers like Maury's? Sorry if this is in the wrong place and thanks for any help!

You should be able to get a new standard D-18 from several different forum sponsors who are Martin authorized dealers for $1860. Maury is certainly one of those AGF sponsors who can help you...best of luck! BTW...love a good D-18!

Give Jon Garon a call at 'My Favorite Guitars'.
Great guy and a fantastic Martin dealer.

p.s. I'm on the other side of the world and wouldn't hesitate for a second buying a new Martin from Jon at MFG.

You can go with those or Ted at LA Guitars or Don and Marty at Wildwood Guitars in Ohio. They are all excellent folks and the price would be the same.
BTW, you are buying one heck of a guitar!

You will get that price from any of the forum sponsors. If you live close enough to Nazareth you can even arrange to pick it up there.

If you take it with you, you're probably going to pay Pennsylvania state sales tax (likely more than the shipping cost).

But, if you're like me, buying an acoustic guitar you've not played is leap I've not yet made, so a call followed by a visit might be the best option in that case.

Does one make an offer with those dealers for a $1860 D-18?
I see them listed on some of the retailers listed as "sale price" or "our price" on this thread for $2459.00 new.

It's called the Minimum Advertised Price (MAP) or some such thing. It's in the agreement the manufacturers/re-sellers have with the retailers, so all the shops basically start on an equal footing as far as attracting customers. After that, it's up to the retailer how low they can go over cost and stay in business, honestly.

You just call up and ask what their best price is. Call more than one and you'll find out what the lowest price is.

I would simply and nicely tell whoever you choose to buy it from that you are aware of the $1860 street price and that is what you wish to pay. Shouldn't be an issue at all because it's a fact and they all know it.

I just picked up my 000-18 at the factory on Monday. It was a great experience and I got a great guitar.

Call Maury. I’ve bought my last four Martins from him. Always GREAT customer service and rock bottom prices.

I believe their agreement with Martin does not allow the to advertise lower than MAP, but they will communicate very honestly about their price verbally. I do not believe My Favorite Guitars requires any haggling. I think they give their best price to everybody.

I agree. I’ve purchased three Martins - a D-18, an HD-28V, and an OM-28 Marquis - from MFG. Each time, I simply asked what their price was, and was quoted a figure that was precisely 60% of MRSP - 40% discount offered up-front, without having to resort to haggling, arguing, or gypsy-horse-dealing. Shipping cost US to UK was, as one would expect, additional.

I’m confident that you won’t get a better price anywhere than from the sponsors recommended by members here.

The usual disclaimers apply......IMHO, YMMV etc.
