I found mine on lessons.com. Had more than enough qualified responses to pick one that I was comfortable with.

Do you mind if I ask who you went with? I’m in southeast Connecticut but I’m willing to drive some.

I have always had problems finding good instructors. This can be especially true in rural areas. Any potential instructor should be made aware of what your goals area. If qualified instructors are not available locally, you might check out Skype. I once used Skype. It has more advantages than disadvantages.

I have taken lessons from Jamie Stillway and she's a gifted teacher! I've taken lessons on lots of instruments in my life, and taught for a living, and she is one of the best teachers I've ever come across. She works over Skype or FaceTime, but it's like she's in the room. I was hesitant about the Skype thing, but it actually works beautifully if you have a great teacher.

Good luck with your guitar journey!

Be aware that in some instances having lessons via Skype can be better than an inadequate instructor. I took fiddle lessons that way. Their are drawbacks and advantages, and there are more advantages that disadvantages.
