Default Fairbanks F-35, *Sold*

https://soundcloud.com/potterpicker/...-f-35-demo-wav

I have a 2014 Fairbanks F-35 for sale. $SOLD, including CONUS shipping. Dale Fairbanks is an amazing builder and I believe he deserves all the accolades he's received here on AGF. This guitar, which is his take on a 1930's Gibson J-35, has a huge nearly bottomless tone. The bass is deep, but articulated, with that growl.

The most important thing to consider about this guitar, however, is the size of the neck. It was modeled after the infamous "baseball bat" necks that banner Gibsons were known for. Do not consider this guitar unless you are comfortable with larger necks! I am 5’9”, wear a size large glove, (however), and this neck is very comfortable for me! I just lost a sale because the buyer got cold feet over the neck.

As far as condition, it's got nothing significant in the way of marks or dents or scratches. I'd conservatively give it a 9 out of 10.

The nut is 1 3/4" and the string spacing is 2 5/16. Honduran mahogany back and sides, with Adirondack top. Hide glue construction. Waverly tuners.

I'm the second owner and I've owned this guitar since last summer and I've kept it humidified. I'm selling because I also own a Fairbanks F-20 and the size of the smaller guitar suits my aging body better!

Not really interested in trades, but I might possibly be interested in a smaller body boutique builder that builds Gibson inspired guitars.

Default Don't miss out

Having owned several Slope D's looking for "the one", I finally found and have happily kept my Fairbanks F-35.
It also comes with Honduran, Adirondack, a beautiful dark sunburst and the 1930's era "baseball bat" neck profile. It bothers me not at all.
In fact Dale Fairbanks for one believes the added mass improves the tone which is stunning.

If you're seriously looking for a Slope Dread, you won't do better.

Weekend bump. Thanks for all the good words. This guitar is the real deal for sure. You won’t find a better J-35 / 45 recreation!

I've got to give this beautiful instrument a Saturday am bump. I would venture to say that it is pretty similar to the 2013 Gibson 1934 Original Jumbo that I own.
Sahill's description of his Fairbanks guitar is exactly the same description I would give for my Gibson but would add that it delivers a truly vintage tone as well.
These baseball bat necks get a bad rap, they are the most comfortable necks I've ever had the pleasure of playing, and I don't have large hands.
No affiliation with the seller, just a bump for an awesome 1930's replica inspired guitar.

I’ve had slope shoulder hogs of every kind and from every period. My Fairbanks is the keeper after all these years. It’s simply my favorite J-45/SJ of all. Anyone looking for a Banner Years necked Gibson will love this guitar.

My Fairbanks is back on the market today. The buyer decided he didn't want to chance buying a guitar with a chunky neck.

I just put a new set of Martin Retro 13-56’s on this and have it tuned down 1/2 step. Even though these strings last a long time, I am amazed at how much added richness and depth this guitar has! Gives me second thoughts...
