One I ordered across-states through Reverb went USPS in a vintage cardboard case, and it also arrived in pristine condition. Had to give the seller a five star rating and keep mum in the comments. What did I really know? Not fair to slam someone for delivering the goods.

Congratulations. It's a beauty!
With all the competition for shipping, I think both USPS and Canada Post are trying harder. If you ship USPS to Canada the item would be delivered by Canada Post when it arrives in Canada and vice versa when shipping by Canada Post to the USA. |

Man, did you get lucky. Maybe that's the way to go. No outer hard protection would tell the most careless guy on the line that you can't stack stuff on top and handle with care.
I had a beautiful hand made acoustic that I bought when living in Mexico. I had to leave it there temporarily (I thought) and would return to get it. A friend though I accidentally left it behind, took it gig bag and all, put it in a box and shipped it with some Mexican shipping company. 6 weeks later I received a gig bag and splinters. It was the one that got me back into guitar playing. Angels must have been looking out for the OP this time. R.I.P

Wow. I once ordered a plywood harmony off reverb just because it was cheap and I was going to set the action high and turn it into a gut bucket slide guitar. The seller sent it UPS in a box. That's it. No packing material, no wrapping, just an oversized cardboard box with a small guitar in it. Miraculously, it also survived the trip unscathed. To this day I'm still amazed that guitar is in one piece.

Yeeesh! I just shipped a rare Epiphone Masterbilt. I double boxed it around a nice SKB hard case. That better be good!

That must be one bad gig bag. Beautiful guitar. I'm not trying to be contrarian to the care that was given but I think you won the guitar shipping lottery. I did find a really heavy duty bag/case by Crossrock. Love it. Glad your story had a happy ending.

Wow ! Lucky break! (Or NOT, as the case may be)
The only brand new guitar I can ever remember buying was from Thomann in Germany, it was a (relatively inexpensive) Recording King. There was no case supplied as standard so I also ordered a gig bag for it (from them). They wrapped the guitar in a little bit of bubble wrap, put it into a flimsy cardboard box and put the bag in next to it ! Not guitar inside the bag, just in there beside it.... //// !!??? Massive gash in one side of the box when it arrived, but guitar and bag miraculously unscathed. Last edited by Kerbie; 06-25-2018 at 09:39 AM. Reason: Edited comment |

lucky break
You were lucky on several fronts, my friend. Congratulations!
Perhaps because it was so poorly packed is what saved it. Any fool could see it was a guitar just looking for destruction, so maybe they took better care of it than normal, probably shaking their heads in amazement just as much as we have been.

I think I know where you got your guitar: https://www.acousticguitarforum.com/...d.php?t=508747
Congrats on the guitar... and avoiding any damages. Mine survived five days from WI to CA via the UPS network. I'm convinced that they hand-carried it on/off the trucks, since it wasn't in a box.

Wow, that is a sweet guitar. Can’t believe someone shipped it in a gig bag! Great job for USPS to deliver it with care. Galloup guitars are great!
