For You Fingerstyle Guitar Players (fingernails)
Am I the only guitarist who has noticed accelerated fingernail growth when using minoxidil (Rogaine)? Might be of interest to fingerstyle guitar players who don't use picks...

I've found that any of the glucosamine-chondroitin supplements seem to strengthen nails.

I don't need faster fingernail growth, I need harder nails and the only thing that I have found that works for me and doesn't involve fake nails is more finger-style playing. I only started using my fingers exclusively for about 4 years now and my picking finger nails have gotten tougher in the past four years. That and learning how to shape and avoid the typical nail injuries. That said, I've done temp repairs using tissue paper and superglue to assist when breaking a nail to close or repairing a split.
My nails grow very fast and I have to clip my left hand finger nails about every two days. |
