Question Simon & Patrick/La Patrie headstocks

Hey everyone, new member here. Just getting back into acoustics after 5 years of electric, and I'm trying to find a good one (I've been spoiled the past few years, with my dad letting my play around on his D-35). I know Simon & Patrick is a fairly well-respected brand, but I was wondering about the headstocks: do they all have the inverted construction like other Godin brands? How about La Patrie? I know it may be structurally sound, but it's just an aesthetic preference. Thanks!

You can see for yourself at the godinguitars.com website. Seagull is the brand with unique headstocks, whereas the rest of them are "Martin-like."

Oh, no, not the shape. I was referring to their construction. I know on , such as A&L and Godin Kingpin (others too), that the necks are cut and flipped to form the headstock, while retaining the paddle shape. I was asking if S&P necks were cut and flipped at the top for the "reverse-grain construction"

Yes, all Godin acoustics do. As far as I know, apart from the "structural stability" claim, it also has to do with minimizing waste and getting the most out of the material. I believe many other companies do the same.

M.H. - Welcome to the Forum. Are you looking at a specific model? The Godin family of guitars makes some great guitars but I don't think you'll find one that will sound like your dad's D-35.

Thanks! haha I'm not going for Martin-level quality, but I have quite enjoyed the S&P parlor models that I've played, so probably one of those.

If you do get one get the Woodland Parlor Pro. Spruce top Mahogany back and sides what more could you ask for. I have one and just love it.

Have you tried a Showcase yet? I have one, as shown in my sig, and I prefer it over the OM-21, a very highly-regarded instrument here at AGF.
