Try the tunes you are working on, broken down into small pieces. Concentrate on one piece until you are happy with it, then move on to another. Sometimes, the whole is too much at one time. A smaller piece of the whole may be easier to deal with.
I have students do this and it works.

Set a reasonable realistic goal for today. "I will clean up line x of song y". Work on that line. If its still not clean after a couple of sessions, break it down more. This advice, emparted to me by Dan Crary via Homespun Tapes DVD has always served me well.
