Contact cleaner safe for fixing a scratchy volume control on Takamine
I recently acquired a nice Japanese Takamine EF341SC - great quality guitar, however the volume slider switch is very scratchy. Can anyone recommend a good contact cleaner that is guitar safe?
As a footnote, I ruined a Wah Wah pedal by using the WRONG type of contact cleaner once - something about it eating the carbon on the Pot? I'm mainly concerned about the finish, since it is a Black guitar.

Are you familiar with Deoxit? I've used Deoxit for years to clean the contacts in many volume and tone pots. I have rescued some really badly oxidized hard-to-find vintage pots with that stuff. It comes in a spray can with one of those tubes that fits into the spray nozzle (like on a can of WD-40). With that, you can direct the contact cleaner to a very specific spot without it getting anywhere else.

DeOxit has a product called Faderlube that is optimized for sliders and POTs.

DO NOT use normal contact cleaner! Some of it is hot enough to melt plastic! Use Deoxit products.

Another vote for Deoxit. I have an EF341C and when the high e string started cutting out, I patiently disassembled the entire pickup system and gave the pickup a bathe in Deoxit. Reassembled and no more problems. But it could have been just the disassemble/reassemble fixed it as well I guess. Congrats on the guitar too. Mines a keeper. It’s a great campfire guitar now.
