That is a gorgeous guitar!

Got to say, I love both Taylor and Martins.

My ‘02 814c. I ordered it without electronics, later added a Baggs Anthem SL. It was the first quality acoustic I bought after selling my vintage ‘58 Strat (because I wasn’t playing it much anymore) to get better acoustics. I soon added the ‘Excalibur & Vine’ TRC, the concept of which I proposed to and designed with Bill Nichols, which he then added to his TRC line of offerings. It has MOP, abalone, koa with brass pieces for the handle, and the gold screw at the top to denote the knob. The bottom screw is black to deminish it’s visibility as not being a part of the sword. The guitar looks like any other 814c, so I’ll just show the TRC.

My 1990 810 is terrific, great to play, pretty to look at, with a nice Taylor tone. I gifted it to my son, gives me an excuse to visit him!

My favorite Taylor was the 414CE I played many years ago at a GC. I already had guitars I thought edged it out in overall tonal response or I might have bought it.

I recently sold a 2002 614ce that I bought untried about 5 yrs ago....it was a lovely immaculate guitar but a little bright sounding for my liking . I got the chance this year to try a 2013 Spring Ltd Macassar ebony 614ce and loved the added depth it has, not to mention the amazing looking back on it . . So I bought it and strung it with Elixir Polyweb 11's and it just got better... . I still use my 70's D35 for a lot of songs but find the taylor great for drop tunings etc .

My 562ce 12X12. I love this guitar! Lush 12 string sound, easy to play, gorgeous, comfortable size. I really get lost when I'm playing it.

Preparing my response it made me realize my conversion is complete. I started out as a Martin guy when I moved from being a primarily electric player to being primarily an acoustic one, but I just realized ALL my favorite guitars are now Taylors.

For a rich balanced tone, I'll put my 814 Ltd (cocobolo) up against any other guitar I've ever heard live.

For a Taylor I don't own, I've always liked the 500 series models I've heard but I thought the new revoiced 600's sound amazing so let me say a 614.

The answer might have been easy two months ago.

I now have two Taylors, a 2011 614ce and a recently purchased 814ceDLX. It should be a no-brainer that my favorite should be the 814. But something happened along the way...

A friend loaned me his Tonerite device. After two separate treatments the 614 had a total metamorphosis. I had previously put it up for sale but have had a total reversal in thinking. Not to sound like a Tonerite ad, while it did make a difference on the three guitars I ran it on, the results on the 614 are simply stunning. So while I would have answered differently a month or two ago, if I could only keep one of my Taylors, surprisingly it would now have to be the 614. To my ear without a side-by-side comparison my 614ce is now sounding a lot like a 914, perhaps my favorite guitar in the Taylor lineup.

And oh yeah... The top is developing a nice amber hue and I much prefer the natural look of the maple back and sides, compared to the way Taylor camouflages them now.

Wow, a '58 Strat? Cool. Seems like you did well with the acoustics Tom.
