Mick, are those picks part of your regular production? If yes, where can I get details to order, please?

They are, I've changed to an Ivory thumb band now as this is an old post but you can find my stuff at the link below. PM me if you have any questions.

^^^ This exactly. My switch to large triangle picks from Fender 351 teardrops made a bigger impact on my playing than any other single thing I've done short of lessons.

I use an out-of-the-box approach that I thought that I invented, only to find out that Mr. Chet Atkins C.G.P. was using the same technique before I was born:

I use my index fingernail to flat pick. The nail is reinforced with plastic krazy-glued beneath the nail, and also usually reinforced with Swiss Silk nail wrap Krazy-glued on the top of the nail. I hold my index finger and thumb together as if holding a pick, and then "flat pick" with my index fingernail. This technique allows seamless alternation between flat picking and finger picking, and I never drop a pick.

Does anyone else do this?

Thanks Mick, but nothing to see on the link..."This shop doesn't have any listings right now." is what I can see.

I'm sorry about that. I didn't notice that you're not in the United States. I can't do international sales at this point.

Ah, I wondered if that might be the case - not to worry, hopefully things may change in that direction. All the best.

Folks, Mick's hybrid thumb picks are the bomb. If you're dealing with a grip issue, or just want to try a thumb pick that is better made than anything out there and also uses premium pick material for the plectrum itself, look no further.

I was using Cat Tongue and other pics with a rough texture but when they moved they were difficult to wiggle back into place. Dunlop Ultex and to a lesser extent Primetones actually get sticky as they get heated up by my skin, at least they do for me. I really like the Ultex because of that, best for me and the tone is great too. I never would have believed this unless I discovered for myself because they are so smooth to the touch

I recently purchased a McPherson carbon touring guitar which came with an assortment of their triangle picks with a hole in the center. Unique tip on each corner. I m amazed at the difference for hanging onto.
Available on McPherson site and at my shop “The acoustic Shoppe” in Springfield MO

Folks:

You might be surprised at how easy, cheap and quick this is. I've been doing this for about thirty years.

Take a roll of white 100% cotton medical tape and cut off about an inch. They lay it down both sides of the pick, sticky side down.

It does a couple things. 1) It is sticky from being on the roll; 2) The cotton absorbs your sweat and oils.

Once worn out or dirty, peel off the old one and put on a new one.

Try it. You might be surprised.

I like the tape trick, Scott. Cheap and easy (much like me). Plus the medical tape is already in the house.

For many years I used textured picks like Tortex and similar for added grip. The texture works well - at first. But it does eventually polish off with use. One day I was given a bag of glossy celluloid picks in heavy gauge from someone who thought they were too thick. The glossy surface actuals sticks well to my fingers given just a little moisture - usually condensation from my cold water or soda. I've also converted almost fully to the heavy gauge too. "Mediums" feel too light these days.

And it is a classy thing to give picks from competitor Mick some props.

Nothing I've tried sticks better.
I even buy the little sticky things you can add to other picks. I am using Charmed Life Picks and always add the sticky dots. Helps me a lot. I like Scott's tape trick too, but have gotten used to the feel of the sticky dots.

I used to stick the guitar moose picks to my guitars, but after using the pick exclusively eventually the dirt and oils from my fingers and thumb reduced the tackiness so it would not stick on the guitar as well, did not affect my play, tho'. I really like the Guitar Moose sticky dots and some of the picks
