They each have their own room? Sorry couldn’t resist.

Default Everything in its place.

My guitars sleep and play in my 200 sq ft office, which hosts my active hobbies and my business. My wife has the another large personal office at the other end of the house. Upstairs, on common ground, I can't hang guitars because the roof slopes inwards, like an A-frame. And we have two frisky dogs, so guitars don't sit out on stands- ever! So that was a simple decision.

As a bachelor my entire house is a man cave. Most of the guitars stay in cases in a spare room, but I usually have several out on stands or wall hangers, plus amps, vintage hi-fi systems and record shelves in several rooms. But all neatly kept, no chaos or clutter.

I'm fortunate enough to live alone. I have an acoustic and an electric (plugged into an amp) both sitting adjacent to my living room. I have another acoustic sitting on a stand in my bedroom. I can play anytime the mood strikes, even at 2 in the morning.

I work from home most weeks. The larger part of my collection is in my office which I keep a humidifier in for the winter. I have them on wall mounts and stands.

Then I have another set in my music room along with some amps.

Then I keep a couple silent guitars / guitalele on stands in the family room. Lastly I have one by my bed on a wall hanger.

Oddly enough my kids only roll their eyes about the collection and I don't have anyone else living with me.

I have been single again for the last 4 1/2 years. I have a small house (approx. 1000sf) and the smallest bedroom is my music room. The humidity here in the PNW is pretty consistent in the 35-45% range, but most of my guitars live in their cases when not in use. There are two hangers out of the picture to the left, one with my resonator and the other with my Takamine six-string. I have a ladyfriend that is here about half the time and she wouldn't mind if the whole house was full of guitars. She loves them and me playing them.

This room has all the furniture a room ever needs! Beautiful 😍

My two guitars and amp are on either side my home desk in my bedroom so that I can pick them up and play when I take a break, and so that I am ready to go when I want to practice or rehearse. I live in a very small home compared to American houses, so there's the pragmatic side to it, but I also know that having them handy makes me pick them up and play. I hung one in my living-room for a while, but I actually played it less and worried about it more. Your setup sounds great and I can tell from your description that it's a positive space for you.
Rock on!

Anyone coming to my house would NOT know I play guitar.....all kept and secured in my music room/recording area/computer/printer etc. We had some problems with some cleaners, so I stopped spreading out! Keep it all in the room I can close off.

Except.......I have worked at home on computer for about 20 years and I can’t hear the deliveries or visitors from the music room/office.....so I had my computer and desk by the front bedroom window at the beginning, knees got really cold and I moved to the front living room and then........desk on wheels ended in the hallway near the front door! The Boss has worked from the kitchen table since Covid, doing endless video conferences.......and I have stayed working in the hallway! What a madhouse!

So when I practice at lunchtime during the week, I select a guitar from the music room and play it in the front room......and always pack it back up when finished!

Twenty five or so of my guitars hang on the walls of my office/den/studio. I have one on a stand in our patio sunroom. I used to have one in the living room too, but my wife nixed that.

I would add a soundseat or a Roc-N-Sock, but what a BOSS room!

Cheers

My lovely wife, Cindy is a fine musician herself, but has a real job as a corporate coach and facilitator. She has worked from home since Covid. Her office is separate from the house over the garage.
She owns a NICE Yamaha studio upright piano and 3 electric keyboards. She never complains about my guitars scattered about the house! Or my playing them, singing and honking harmonicas….
Lucky me.

I suggest you write your wife some nice mushy love songs and serenade her! Might soften her up a bit…. Good luck getting an axe or two into the living space

Cheers

Paul
