Those are pretty nice guitars. What kind of damage does is have?

I just looked and you can get one from GC with no damage and a 45 day tryout for $599;

Ugh ... I shy away from cracks anywhere on an acoustic but at least they are in the back and not on the surface. Others here are more knowledgeable about what to do.

Funny, because I actually seek out used guitars with cracks. They're easy to repair, don't usually impact sound or durability, and are a great way to get a discount on a guitar.

I've had a Martin DRS1 for about 7 years. It seems the specs are pretty similar to the DRS2. Mine is solid sapele top and back and sides.

It's a great playing guitar, is beautiful, and has required very little attention over the years to maintain. It's got good sustain and balanced volume across the strings. It does not have a thumping bass. It's not as loud as I hope a dread would be.

The way the matte finish has become shiny in the spots where my hand rests looks beautiful, in my opinion. I have read that some people do not like this, but I do.

The electronics have always done exactly what I need for open mics etc. Just need a spare 9 volt in the case, just in case.

I will never sell for sentimental reasons. Sentiments aside, I think it's a good guitar for the money. It's mellower sound (likely from the sapele top?) might not be for everyone, especially those looking for more punch. However the DRS2 looks to be a different top anyways.

Happy hunting!

The DRS1/2 are basically the same as the 10 Road Series dreadnoughts Martin sells now, which have a slightly upgraded pickup. The solid sapele runs for $899 new, the spruce top for a bit more.
