Default Fender Acoustasonic Telecaster

Just saw this ahead of NAMM. Not sure if I should post this here or in electric, since it’s a hybrid.

What do you guys think?

Yes, that looks genius!

I wunder about the nut width. If it's 1 3/4, I might have found my electric guitar.

The last one that Fender made was 1/10 the price and sounded pretty bad acoustically. This one is ..uhh… unique in its looks. That 'inset top' looks kind of ugly.
Really have to question the soundhole description - 'waterfall' for air flowing into the body. Soundwaves don't really create airflow that way.

Looks like Fender's answer to Taylor's T5 series. It even has the five-way switch and two knobs. Makes sense from that perspective. Kinda cool they could do it and keep a Fender vibe about it.

I had to go to youtube to get a decent listen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w-HgCsUOXmo

It's not a sound I have any interest in owning, but I can see guys in electric bands enjoying it for a different sound on ballads.

Like everything else, whatever floats your boat is good. I don't like the way it looks or sounds, but that doesn't mean you can't.

This is not a new idea, already done by Fender and many others. Also saying that a simple tone knob takes you from a "Spruce/RW Dreadnaught to a a Spruce/OM" is ridiculous market-speak.

I'll take the Godin A6 Ultra all day long vs this (IMO) rather ugly looking thing.

I got my popcorn ready...

...and I have my guard up ...already the negativity is washing over the AGF.
Here comes the "that ain't no real acoustic and get off my lawn crowd."

Personally, I think it's pretty dang cool and I like the look. It wouldn't replace any of my acoustics but it would certainly be fun to own.

The big electric guitar forum isn't a fan. Horrible sounds and too expensive (even though they claim to make $2,500 per person per gig every Fri+Sat, but that's another story....).

I like it. Agree that it seems to improve upon a few ideas from the Taylor T5. I was generally able to coax good sounds out of the T5, but I feel that it's hard to get as much twang without 25.5" scale. Ended up selling mine because I have a lot of electrics and acoustics. Not in a band, so the need to have something that does that in the live setting is nonexistent.

I'd gladly buy one if I were in a band that needed twangy and acoustic sounds, but I can't get locals to give them time of day. My gut tells me that this guitar might last 2-3 years before getting canned from the Fender lineup.

Neither fish nor fowl, but an acoustic (or something relatively close) that plays as easy as an electric definitely has some appeal.

I went to an acoustic show of my favorite guitarist/duo and they were playing A6's and it was the worst concert sound I ever attended. Probably not the Godin's fault but it really turned me off because of epic levels of piezo quack.

I kinda think it's cool too.

I like the T5, but since I never play amplified it totally misses me in utility.

For a while, I was using my T5 without an amp because amps and full sized acoustics were a little too loud when the kids were napping.
