Rainsong Parlor: Concert or Black Ice?
Kind of like the looks of the Black Ice and the edge of the CO looks a little odd.
But the CO has the unidirectional soundboard which is reportable warmer. Wonder if I would notice the difference? Must have the sharks!

The CO top does mute some of the highs providing a "warmer" tone, but the difference was not enough for me to give up the Black Ice top when I ordered my 12-Fret Dreadnought a few years ago. I mean how can you resist?

Hi dadio917,
I got an OM Concert with the shorty neck back in January. I couldn't be happier. I can't speak to sound difference between Concert and Black Ice. I only played the Shorty and a Concert, and both have the unidirectional top. Really didn't hear much difference between the hybrid vs. pure carbon fiber back and sides. But I think the unidirectional top looks quite sharp (as does the Black Ice). You can see some evidence of the joint along the edges of the top, but it's pretty subtle and I'm not bothered by it at all. One point: I very much wanted the 12-fret neck and an OM body. I thought I had to live without the abalone rosette and the sharks and get the Shorty if I wanted that neck. But I didn't. If you buying the Parlor is more about the neck than the body, just be advised that you can get the 12-fret neck on other body sizes. So I was able to get exactly the guitar I wanted—OM Concert body, 12-fret neck, and the abalone and sharks. Good luck, whatever you decide! |

I picked up the APLE model a few months back and it had it all - OM size body, 12 fret neck, unidirectional top, upgraded pups, beautiful finish.

I like Ted find the BI top irresistible, can't really explain it. Random pieces glued together, it just works.

Been watching all the old bond movies from start to finish.
Black ice reminds me of the tuxedos he wears. Very cool. Asked my wife to look at pictures, was really looking for her impression of Standard CO top versus BI. She stumbled on Marine Burst and really likes it. Up jumps the devil!

The Black Ice looks fantastic in person. Pictures don't capture the beauty.

I absolutely love my Black Ice Parlor from la guitars.
Plays and sounds GREAT! Love the neck. I recently took it into the Ford dealership to play while my oil was changed. True Love Ways was a hit with the girls... |
