Again, I am sure your Benedetto will be up and running in no time.

As far as my Comins, it is quite a guitar. It has a Baggs Hex bridge on it which allowed me to use medium PB strings, it was as rich and nice as just about any archtop you would hear (and loud too...).

Thanks for the nice comment about the Pagelli, it is a very nice guitar, brighter than the Comins (obviously), but I had Bob Colosi make an elephant ivory saddle for it, which warmed it up a good deal. I use light Phosphor Bronze strings on it (the Armstrong pickup has adjustable pole pieces so you can get away with that). The asymetrical shape makes the guitar feel much smaller (even though it's almost 17"), it is a joy to play.

Absolutely beautiful!!! Best sunburst I've ever seen. Is the tailpiece screwed on or held with violin gut?

Thank you. Kim Walker is a master of the hand-rubbed sunburst finish. The tailpiece is screwed on.

Is that a DeArmond pickup on it? Also, it looks like you have bronze strings on it, any problem with the pickup balance?

Yes, it's a DeArmond that I bought from Archtop.com and sent to Kim to install on the guitar

The photo, with bronze strings, is one that Kim sent me before shipping the guitar. I string it with nickel wound strings. I'm guessing, though, that with the adjustable polepieces, it could be balanced for bronze strings.

Now that I've more carefully read through this thread, I see that is working for your Pagelli. Nice to know.

Again Bluemonk, truly a beautiful, special guitar!

The discussion about the Dearmond just made me realize that my recent incident with the Benedetto could have been worse.

As the first pictures posted show, I have a Dearmond Rhythm Chief 1000 with a monkey on a stick mount. I had it on just yesterday to go try out amps at Guitar Center. I typically leave it on, but for some reason I decided to remove it when I got home yesterday. Glad I did - I imagine that monkey on a stick mount could've done some damage to the top of the guitar when the tailpiece gave way.

Speaking of the Dearmonds - I ended up using phosphor bronze strings with mine. The 1000, like mine, doesn't have adjustable pole pieces so I was worried that it wouldn't sound great, but surprisingly I thought it sounded really good. Even the G string sounded well balanced with the others.

Someone was watching out for you, no doubt. Timing is everything. Like when I went to an art museum yesterday with my wife and two friends. As we approached the ticket counter, a teacher with a pack of teenage students trailing behind handed us the tickets for her four no-shows.
