As far as my Comins, it is quite a guitar. It has a Baggs Hex bridge on it which allowed me to use medium PB strings, it was as rich and nice as just about any archtop you would hear (and loud too...). Thanks for the nice comment about the Pagelli, it is a very nice guitar, brighter than the Comins (obviously), but I had Bob Colosi make an elephant ivory saddle for it, which warmed it up a good deal. I use light Phosphor Bronze strings on it (the Armstrong pickup has adjustable pole pieces so you can get away with that). The asymetrical shape makes the guitar feel much smaller (even though it's almost 17"), it is a joy to play. Jimmy

The discussion about the Dearmond just made me realize that my recent incident with the Benedetto could have been worse. As the first pictures posted show, I have a Dearmond Rhythm Chief 1000 with a monkey on a stick mount. I had it on just yesterday to go try out amps at Guitar Center. I typically leave it on, but for some reason I decided to remove it when I got home yesterday. Glad I did - I imagine that monkey on a stick mount could've done some damage to the top of the guitar when the tailpiece gave way. Speaking of the Dearmonds - I ended up using phosphor bronze strings with mine. The 1000, like mine, doesn't have adjustable pole pieces so I was worried that it wouldn't sound great, but surprisingly I thought it sounded really good. Even the G string sounded well balanced with the others.
