Here's the opening diddy...good first position intro, played on mostly top strings - I'll give you first part. I don't do tab,,,so I'm sorry in advance if this doesn't make any sense.

Double drop D. (h is hammer, s is slide).
6th means top (bass) string to me, 5th is A, 4th is D, and so forth.
Numbers are frets.

5th: 0-3(h)5 0-3(s)5
4th: 0-3-0
6th: 3-0
5th: 0-3(h)5 4th: 5-3(h)0
3rd: 2-(h)0 4th: 3,,slide to 2nd: 6 3rd: 7

All this happens in about 5 seconds. Once you learn this you'll be able to pick up the rest because the drop D really makes it playable.

This is going to sound weird,, but it helps to count to 3's in your head when your learning this (as you can see most of the intro is in 3's).

This makes no sense at all does it?? Hope you learn it.

I actually contacted Taylor awhile back about a SCCSM. The response I got was that it was something that had been discussed but never came about. I hope they do eventually work it out. It would also be nice to see a Phil Keagy sig. model. So everyone contact Taylor and recommend a SCCSM.

An SCCSM.

Perhaps a 714 or 514 with special inlay.

Those are the guitars I've seen in his hand more than anything. of course he also has a really great K14c he's been playing lately.

Now what would the inlay be? Maybe we could also email Stephen about it.

He promotes Taylor mor than just about anybody else. Last year they were giving away a 310 on his website. This year it's a Baby Taylor.

You can email him @ [email protected]

Default Grassroots campaign

Yes I think we should start a grassroots campaign for a SCCSM. I emailed him and Taylor about it as I have before. But if we all get in on the act it could happen. There is power when we all speak. Let's do it!

Ahh one of my favorite artists. When I was working out what Steven wanted on his guitar that I'm building him he said that his favorite guitar as of then was his 714. I would have thought Steven would have had a Sig model by now as well. He sure has a few taylors..hopefully I'll convert him..nothing against Taylors that is..they are great guitars no doubt.

Cheers!

John

Wow John !!!!

That's an awesome looking guitar. How did you get hooked up with SCC ? I see you're in Oklahoma. I have some strong ties in Boomer Sooner land.

Yes, it would. But Phil plays mostly Olson and Langejans guitars. He only owns one Taylor...a 514ce. I've wondered, though, if the new ES system might not draw his interest in Taylors.

I too like SCC. I read once many years ago that he owns a very old Gibson guitar as well, and he used it on one of his albums...perhaps 8 years ago or more.

Decided to use an old, old thread instead of a new one.....Saw him in his hometown of Paducah KY last night backed by local symphony. First time ever seeing him live. What a class guy with a great big heart for people. Been thru some tough times with the loss of his daughter many years ago in a tragic accident. Overcame with God, family and a lot of courage.

We were 4 rows back for this. His dad and brother came out toward the end and sang a hymnal with him. Yes, he played the daylights out of 3 rotated Taylors. One had the bling.

I got to see him a couple of weeks ago, and it was amazing. It was probably the same setup-3 Taylors in alternate tunings (2 of them were his signature model), and a couple of mics. They sounded jaw droppingly good!

I saw SSC about 2 years ago here in Modesto Ca. One of only 2 stops that year in Cali.
An indoor venue, it was of the best concerts I’ve ever been to.
His son Kaleb’s band backed him up.

His interaction with the audience was great - and took time on quite a few songs to explain when, where, or why he wrote that particular song.

Of course he was playing his Taylors and shredded it up a few times.
I was pleasantly surprised when he picked up a banjo and let it fly.
