Default Just played a Taylor 324ce Builder's Edition and holy crap

Is it good!

I was set on getting a Martin OM28 or OMJM, but this guitar is bouncy and the sound is really great!

The right amount of brightness, midrange and bass. The other higher models didn't do it for me.

What else should I try? Maybe I should have gotten it...

How is the Taylor 812e?

Is this more of a OM body?

Default Eastman 622ce

I tried the Taylor and the 622ce and bought the Eastman--maple back, great sound, soundport and arm bevel, unbelievably beautiful. $2000 or so.

I just sold my Taylor 322 (14 frets) because with ernie ball Al/Br strings,
it was beated by my 2014 Martin OOO-18 with Martin MSP 4100 strings.

I guess the bigger 324 would match the Martin.

If that guitar gave you the feeling you describe, then go back and play it again. If you feel the same way take it home.

I went looking for a J45, the ones I played were very blah, salesman suggested I try the BE 324ce, haven't been a Taylor fan for a long time, but this one sucked me in and I brought it home. It is wonderful to play and hear. The mahogany top I think really helps and being less than a month old, it seems to already be improving a bit the more I play it. My Martin M36 has taken a back seat to this Taylor. At least for now. Should be interesting to see how it goes after the honeymoon is over.

So other than pretty stuff the only difference is the back and sides...BE is Urban Ash and the standard is mahogany
Did you try the Standard also ? if so how did it stack up to the BE?

Mahogany-topped Taylor guitars are great.

I've been a Guild and Martin fundamental-tone(s) player for decades.

A few years ago an X-braced 324e (Mahogany/Tasmanian Blackwood) made me a Taylor owner for the first time.

The End.

For me, it was a 322ce 12-fret in hog/blackwood. Still love my Martins, but this Taylor is always welcome in my stable! Very fine guitar.

The standard has blackwood back and sides, not mahogany. And yes I did compare for a long time. The standard is very good also, but there is a tone difference, the BE sounded a bit more refined and open to me. At a pretty big price increase though. I am planning on keeping this guitar for a long while and it is replacing several others, so I went for the BE with the bevels, ash and improved tuners. Check out a plain 324 if you can, it is NOT a slouch!

I bought my 324ceBE just over a year ago, it's my go-to for studio and online playing.

This and the 517 feel like legit genius level designs. Not a fan of Taylor’s evolution over the past decade but would be proud and utterly delighted to own either.
